Staff at Link Engineering, based in Birmingham, took on a challenge to cycle 100 miles in 24 hours to help raise £2,500 to name a guide dog puppy.

The puppy will be named Link, after the company and team who raised the funds to support the sight loss charity Guide Dogs.

Robert Gill, Director of Link Engineering, said: “Guide Dogs is a charity close to my heart and we were delighted to choose it as our charity of the year.

“The cycling challenge was tough, but the five of us who took part really enjoyed it and would love to do it again. It was great to receive so much support for an important cause.”

Robert and his wife Emily have previously volunteered for the charity and have fostered three guide dogs throughout their specialised training to support people with sight loss.

Miles Northwood, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager at Guide Dogs, said: “As a charity, we rely almost entirely on public donations to keep our vital services for people with sight loss running. We are incredibly grateful for the support from Link Engineering.

“Our Name a Puppy scheme is a wonderful opportunity to be at the heart of a guide dog puppy’s story.”

Through the charity’s Name a Puppy scheme you can “name” a guide dog puppy and follow their journey.

You’ll gain insights into the world of guide dogs and how young pups progress through their training – as they aspire to become life-changers.
