A popular award-winning restaurant in Coventry is tantalising the taste buds of food lovers across the city who would prefer to eat in the comfort of their own home during the coronavirus epidemic.
As more people choose to avoid pubs, clubs, shops and restaurants in a drive to slow down the Covid-19 pandemic Turmeric Gold has introduced a new takeaway service [for its regular customers] to help brighten up their evenings while they are stuck indoors.
Customers can make their selection from any dish featured on the Turmeric Gold menu and for orders over £20, Turmeric Gold is also including a bottle of wine. And to further assist in the current situation, Turmeric Gold staff will deliver orders straight to the car so as to prevent customers having to come into the restaurant to wait.
Jay Alam, Owner of Turmeric Gold, situated in Spon Street, in the heart of medieval Coventry, said: “In recent days we have received more enquiries from people who said they were making plans for their evenings as they were choosing to reduce the risk against themselves and their vulnerable relatives and friends.
“Of course we all need to do what we can to ensure life can return to normal as quickly as possible, so we took the decision to launch a new takeaway service so our customers seeking to have a break from home cooking need not miss out.”
Jay said while he and his staff always took every precaution to ensure the restaurant premises were spotlessly clean – Turmeric Gold has a Food Hygiene Rating of 5, the highest grade awarded by Coventry City Council – they were conducting their cleaning regimes even more frequently since the outbreak.
He said a number of diners had still been keen to eat inside the restaurant in line with the government guidelines, so he had taken steps to seat parties in different areas so as to ensure enough personal space between guests.
Jay said: “We decided to operate a takeaway service following an increasing number of enquiries in recent days. All our customers can be assured that we and our staff are taking every measure to ensure the hygiene of our restaurant and our kitchen remains at the highest level, as recorded by Coventry City Council, and that we are operating with the utmost care to ensure we put neither our staff nor our customers at risk of the virus.”
The takeaway service is available from 5.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. seven days a week.
