Two new apprentices have joined an award-winning firm of IT and cyber security specialists in the East Midlands.
Thirty-nine year old Il-Sung Sato and Louis Canning, who is 25, are both apprentice service desk engineers at Nottinghamshire-based Your IT Department. Around a third of the company’s workforce has come through the apprenticeship route.
Il-Sung, who lives in Mansfield, has more than a decade of commercial experience in digital marketing, including data analysis and customer-focussed problem solving.
“I’ve always been technically-minded and I enjoy working with IT and trouble-shooting,” said Il-Sung. “There’s a great support structure here at Your IT, which will help me to make the most of this fantastic opportunity.”
Louis is from Sutton-in-Ashfield and was a pupil at Sutton Community Academy before studying at West Notts College. He learned about the apprenticeship through the training provider Althaus Digital.
“I like the combination of hands-on learning with Your IT and the academic work with Althaus,” said Louis. “I’m really enjoying the practical experience of speaking to clients and helping them to find the right solutions for their particular issues.”
Apprentices at Your IT Department are supported by the company’s in-house ‘Your IT Academy,’ which provides training and development opportunities for all employees, while also offering them financial incentives to develop their skills and knowledge.
The company’s Head of People Development, Sam Hewson, emphasised the importance of encouraging all the firm’s apprentices to develop their careers.
“It’s great to welcome Il-Sung and Louis to the team,” said Sam. “Our vision is to nurture and develop our apprentices and give them the individual support they need in order to flourish.”
Your IT Department has won several awards in recent years and provides managed IT services to more than 100 businesses across the UK. The firm was named in the Top 50 Best Managed IT Companies in the UK for the fourth year in a row.
