Initiative In Aid Of Refugee Week Sponsored By Award Winning Nicholson Group.
The Anthony Walker Foundation created a day-long event to help support Refugee Week sponsored by the acclaimed Liverpool property development firm Nicholson Group.
The Foundation based in Liverpool City Centre supports those seeking safety and refugee because it aligns with its mission as Rahana Bennett, Hate Crime Support and Community Engagement Worker explained: “We exist to promote racial justice, equality, and a more inclusive society. Refugees often face discrimination, marginalization, and significant challenges as they rebuild their lives in a new country.
“By supporting them, the foundation helps to foster compassion, break down barriers of prejudice, and empower individuals to thrive in safe, welcoming communities, ultimately contributing to a fairer and more just society for all.
“The Foundation felt strongly that a daytime event initiative would help raise further awareness of the plight of refugees now living here and our work in supporting them. We see and hear firsthand the pain and challenges faced by those new to the country who are targeted simply because of who they are. This event was about spreading a vital message: you are not alone. We are here to offer understanding, support, and a safe space for anyone affected by racial or religious hate crime.”
Rahana added: “To everyone who joined us for Anthony Walker: Community is a Superpower, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. This event was a beautiful celebration of unity, love, and collective action — and it wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible community. A massive shoutout to Firefit Hub for generously hosting us and for the powerful work they continue to do with young people across Liverpool.
“Huge thanks to Zero Waste and their dedicated volunteers, and to the fabulous Kathryn Bowman for her boundless energy and for donating plenty of food throughout the day. Also thank you to the incredibly gifted Ellie Burke, Ithalia, our dancing queen and the Squash Café and Shop.
“This event raised awareness, offered support, and gave a warm welcome to those new to our community. We’re also really grateful to the Nicholson Group for helping making this event a reality with their support.
