A well-established independent opticians in Annan is entering an exciting new chapter after welcoming a long-standing member of its team as a new director, recognising her dedication to the practice and the local community.
Founded in the heart of Annan, Kidner Opticians has been a staple of the local area for 30 years, serving generations of loyal patients in and around the local community with passion and expertise.
More recently, the team at Kidner Opticians have welcomed new leadership, with existing Dispensing Optician Nikki Bell taking on the joint role of Director, bringing her wealth of existing knowledge and expertise to help shape the future of the practice and its patient care.
Nikki first entered the world of optics 11 years ago, filling a temporary job vacancy, but what started as a job opportunity quickly developed into a passion for optics and, more importantly, for helping people with their eyecare.
Six years ago, Nikki joined the team at Kidner Opticians, where she has continued to develop her optical knowledge. Last year, she achieved another significant milestone in qualifying as a Dispensing Optician, a feat she accomplished while juggling her studies alongside working in practice and raising her two children.
Nikki commented: “I never expected that taking a job in optics 11 years ago would lead me to where I am today. I quickly fell in love with the profession and the difference we can make to people’s lives, and I’m proud to be a part of such an amazing team at Kidner Opticians.
“Becoming a director is a really exciting next step. I can’t wait to help shape the future of the practice and ensure that the eyes of the Annan community continue to receive the very best care.”
Alongside her work in practice, Nikki has been an active member of the Annan community over the years, giving talks at nurseries and primary schools, as well as delivering smart eyewear sessions to local low vision groups.
Her involvement in the community reflects the approach that has always been central to Kidner Opticians, with a focus on building genuine relationships with patients and supporting the wider community beyond the practice itself.
Nikki added: “For me, an independent optical practice stands for much more than supporting those who walk through the practice door. I’m passionate about making sure everyone in our local community feels listened to and cared for, and I’m looking forward to bringing that same approach to my role as director.”
Working alongside existing directors Peter Telfer and Alistair Duff, Nikki will be taking the lead in practice and within the team.
As the practice enters this new chapter, Kidner Opticians is looking forward to building on its established reputation while continuing to provide the personal, professional, and community-focused care that its patients value.
