Amazelab putting a fun and creative take on all things STEAM

Leonie Briggs, Director of Amazelab a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) educational resource provider is aiming to put the spark in people by providing engaging opportunities linking STEAM subjects and their relevance to everyday life in a thought provoking but fun manner.

“As a science teacher, STEAM lead, STEM ambassador and CREST assessor looking for ways of engaging young people in science and STEM subjects from home during lockdown I didn’t want children to miss out on practical science even though many were not physically in school. Using web-based platforms and social media to deliver content opened up many new avenues to reach a wider audience which enabled us to be much more accessible and expansive. Working from home with my husband, who is a graphic designer, we realised that were able to create a much higher quality of resource, leading to the establishment of Amazelab.”

After providing activities and experiment at home videos to excellent feedback it became apparent that there was an audience for our content. It has been inspiring and rewarding to deliver STEM activities to those who may not have necessarily engaged in this type of activity before in a fun, stress free and independent manner.”

Amazelab hopes to inspire people to discover, interact, enjoy and take STEM subjects further with the aim of them taking on STEM based careers and developing a life-long love of these subjects.

“Who will be the next Helen Sharman or Harry Brearley?  It’s exciting to think of the discoveries that will be made in the future, both in our region and beyond. To be able to play a small part in this journey is extremely exciting and fulfilling.”

Watching businesses managing to adapt and thrive under the ever-changing circumstances, Amazelab provides engaging opportunities to people via workshops, video link, activity packs, follow along factsheets, and guidance open to all from educational settings to non -school groups and everyone in between.
