A new fine dining experience in the UK’s second city

Aktar Islam

From Michelin star dining to chic street eats, Birmingham has a culinary scene that’s bursting at the seams. To give globe-trotting gourmands the chance to experience the very best of what’s on offer, The Grand Hotel Birmingham, the city’s original grande dame, has designed a package to deliver the ultimate foodie escape.

The new Opheem Grand Experience package gives guests the chance to stay at the Grand, the city’s finest hotel, and experience dinner at Birmingham restaurant Opheem — the only Indian restaurant outside London to hold a Michelin star. Led by award-winning head chef Aktar Islam, who featured on MasterChef and has been a Great British Menu winner, Opheem takes a modern approach to fine dining using a base of Indian flavours. As part of the package, guests will also be treated to the Grand Hotel’s luxurious afternoon tea experience, served in the Salon of the hotel’s sophisticated cocktail bar, Madeleine.

Adam Bateman, Culinary Director of The Grand Hotel Birmingham, said: “Birmingham’s reputation as a superlative culinary destination continues to build, and this partnership is the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. We’re delighted to introduce Opheem to our guests — this is a world-class experience right here in Birmingham.”

Aktar Islam, who, like Adam, is a Birmingham local, commented: “I love The Grand. It’s a fantastic place to introduce people to Birmingham and the perfect partner for Opheem. I’m delighted to work with Adam and the team at The Grand to deliver the ultimate experience for those wanting to stay and dine in two of the best destinations in the city.”

The Opheem Grand Experience package includes a 1-night stay at The Grand (with breakfast), dinner at Opheem and a decadent afternoon tea in the Grand’s glamorous cocktail lounge, Madeleine.

The package is valid for bookings on Wednesdays and Thursdays only. The package must be booked four weeks in advance, is adult only, and is for two adults per room, up to a maximum of four rooms per night. Prices start from £349. To book visit www.thegrandhotelbirmingham.co.uk.
