Children at Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster are making the most of the summer months through a programme of fun-filled outdoor activities designed to encourage creativity, exploration, friendship and active learning.
From water play and sensory experiences to yoga sessions and imaginative adventures, youngsters are embracing the sunshine while developing new skills and creating lasting memories with their friends.
Little Trinity Nursery Manager Gaynor Carter said: “Summer provides wonderful opportunities for children to learn through play and to enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. We love seeing their enthusiasm, creativity and confidence grow as they explore different activities with their friends.
“Whether it’s splashing about in water play, creating artwork, taking part in sensory activities or enjoying yoga in the fresh air, every activity helps support children’s development while ensuring they have lots of fun along the way.”
Throughout the summer the nursery is providing a wide variety of themed activities, including beach-themed play promoting sun safety awareness, making pretend lemonade, creating homemade bubbles, and even running their own miniature car wash.
Sensory and texture-based activities have also proved popular, with children exploring dinosaur swamps, pigs in mud, pirate-themed play stations, chocolate playdough and shaving foam ice cream creations designed to spark curiosity and imagination.
Added Gaynor: “Creative talents are flourishing from handprint ice creams and sunshine clocks to pebble painting, colourful windmills, butterfly creations and free painting sessions.
“The summer programme is also focusing on friendship and wellbeing, with children working together to create friendship people and a friendship banner celebrating kindness and inclusion. Outdoor games such as ‘Walk the Plank’ help to encourage teamwork and confidence, while yoga sessions help children develop balance, coordination and mindfulness.”
Research continues to highlight the importance of outdoor play in supporting children’s physical, social and emotional development, making these experiences such as those provided at Little Trinity Nursery an important part of early years education.
As the summer holidays continue, the nursery remains committed to providing engaging opportunities that encourage children to explore, discover and learn through play in a safe and nurturing environment.
