Richard Lyndon, Executive Director of Specialist Support Services at Birmingham-headquartered property and construction consultancy Wakemans, has been appointed to the West Midlands Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Richard has held globally accountable executive board and leadership positions delivering complex capital investment programmes and business transformation initiatives. His career spans 18 years in private practice and more than two decades in executive leadership within international engineering and contracting organisations, across real estate, infrastructure, transportation, renewable energy, industrial manufacturing and process engineering.
In that time he has advised boards and investors on commercial strategy, corporate governance, acquisitions, joint ventures, procurement and dispute resolution. He combines qualifications in business, law and quantity surveying.

On the Board, Richard intends to focus on promoting professional excellence, supporting talented new entrants from all backgrounds to enter and thrive within the surveying profession, strengthening collaboration across the built environment and wider business community, and helping to advance the investment, innovation and skills that will underpin the West Midlands’ long-term prosperity.
At Wakemans, Richard leads the firm’s Specialist Support Services division, launched in 2026 to combine legal, commercial and project delivery expertise for clients facing construction claims and dispute management, distressed projects and other complex commercial challenges. The division sits alongside Wakemans’ established service lines and covers commercial dispute resolution, project risk advisory and supply-chain financial management, intervening at the points in construction and infrastructure delivery where commercial risk is most acute.
