NewWave Events are launching a brand-new event this September. The London Dragon Boat Festival takes place on Thursday 10th September at Surrey Quays and invites businesses from across the capital to enter a team, race on the water, and raise money for a charity of their choice.
Organised by NewWave Events – who already run a successful Dragon Boat Challenge for the construction industry at the same venue – this new festival brings that same fierce, friendly racing to businesses from any industry. Teams of up to 15 take to the water, with 10 paddlers and a drummer racing at a time in each boat. No prior experience is necessary, as training and all equipment are provided on the day.
An Afternoon of Entertainment and Fundraising
Every team entry includes 11 BBQ tickets, ensuring a fantastic, inclusive day out for the whole crew. Away from the water, the event space will have additional entertainment running throughout the day to keep spirits up between races. Medals will be up for grabs for the top-placed teams, adding an extra edge to the competition.
A fully stocked bar will also be available throughout the day, providing the perfect spot to celebrate race victories and network with peers.
Unlike NewWave’s other festivals, which support one named charity, the London event is open format – every team fundraises for a cause of their own choosing, whether that’s a national charity or something closer to home. No fundraising target is too big or small, and no cause too niche.
The event promises a fantastic day of fierce but friendly competition, set against the vibrant backdrop of Surrey Quays. Teams will compete in a series of exhilarating races throughout the day, offering an unrivalled opportunity for team building, client entertainment, and networking with peers, rivals and clients – all in support of whatever cause matters most to them.
