Two years ago, Laugh For Life Comedy was founded with a simple but powerful idea: that laughter could help people rebuild confidence, learn new skills, and feel part of something bigger than themselves.
Created by Liverpool-based stand-up comedian Henry Churney, the Community Interest Company grew out of his belief that comedy could be more than entertainment — it could be a genuine tool for recovery, connection, and wellbeing.
Henry brought together over a decade of comedy experience with his background as a Mental Health Lead for a global pharmaceutical company, where he supported wellbeing initiatives across 16 countries.
From that unique combination came Laugh For Life Comedy’s distinctive five-week programme, which takes participants from the classroom to a professional stage and gives them the chance to develop confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging. For many, it has been more than a course; it has been a life-changing experience.
“The impact has been deeply felt. Participants have not only learned the craft of stand-up, but have also built friendships, strengthened their self-belief, and found a supportive “Comedy Creative” community that continues well beyond the course itself,” said Henry proudly.
Monthly Creative Comedy Workshops have helped keep that momentum going, leading to performances at venues and festivals including the Epstein Theatre, Liverpool, Buxton, and the Edinburgh Fringe.
In 2026, the CIC is set to take up to 15 participants to Buxton and Edinburgh — many for the first time — giving them a platform to share their voices and stories with wider audiences.
Henry added: “As Laugh For Life Comedy celebrates its second anniversary, there is a real sense of pride in how far the company has come and the lives it has touched along the way. But the ambition is still growing.”
LFLC is now looking to partner with businesses who want to support a proven model that helps vulnerable people reconnect with their communities and rediscover purpose.
In return, sponsors can also access meaningful CSR benefits, including community impact, brand visibility, and employee wellbeing workshops that use comedy to strengthen communication and mental health.
Henry concluded: “At its heart, Laugh For Life Comedy is proving that humour can do more than make people laugh — it can help people heal, grow, and belong. And two years on, that story is only just beginning.”
