A brand-new postnatal dance and movement programme, Sling Tots, launched this April across selected UK locations, offering new parents a joyful way to rebuild strength, bond with their baby, and connect with others — without needing childcare.

Created by award-winning children’s dance franchise and SBS Winner, Tappy Toes -Sling Tots combines a gentle dance-based class with babywearing, allowing parents to keep their little ones close in a sling or carrier while taking part in a supportive, feel-good class environment.

Launched as a pilot programme this April, Sling Tots classes will initially be available in Manchester, Southport, Watford, Chelmsford and Forest Hill (London), with plans to expand into further locations across the UK from September.

Designed specifically for parents with babies from approximately 6 weeks postnatal (following medical clearance), Sling Tots focuses on rebuilding strength, improving posture, and boosting mental wellbeing—all while incorporating fun, easy-to-follow dance routines set to uplifting (and nostalgic) music.

Founder Claire Munday explains: “My children are older now, but how I wish there had been something like Sling Tots around when they were babies. I would have absolutely loved to do a class like that with mine, especially my daughter who had terrible colic and never wanted to be put down! I can’t believe we haven’t done this sooner to be honest. I’m so excited to share it with the world.”

Unlike traditional postnatal classes, Sling Tots removes the need for childcare by keeping baby safely snuggled in a sling or babycarrier throughout the session. The gentle, low-impact movements are carefully designed to support postnatal recovery, while also providing sensory benefits for babies through rhythm, movement, and close physical contact.

Key benefits of Sling Tots include:

  • Supporting postnatal physical recovery in a safe, low-impact way.
  • Enhancing parent-baby bonding through close contact.
  • Boosting mental wellbeing and reducing feelings of isolation.
  • Creating a welcoming community for new parents.
  • Stimulating babies’ sensory and vestibular development.

All instructors undergo specialist training, and classes are delivered with a strong emphasis on safety, including guidance around correct babywearing and postnatal readiness.

Each Sling Tots course runs in a 6-week block, priced at £60, with sessions designed to be inclusive, relaxed, and suitable for all fitness levels—no dance experience required.

Following the pilot phase, the programme is expected to roll out more widely through the Tappy Toes franchise network, bringing Sling Tots to families across the UK and beyond.

Claire adds: ” We know how isolating those early months of parenthood can feel. Sling Tots isn’t just about dance, it’s about creating a space where parents can move their bodies, feel like themselves again, and build genuine connections with others going through the same stage of life.”
