A newly-appointed senior manager at a leading IT support and cyber security firm in the East Midlands has dedicated her latest academic success to her mum who died last year.
Amanda Sharp has been appointed as Head of Operations at award-winning Your IT Department in Nottinghamshire and brings 25 years’ experience in service delivery management.
Shortly after starting in the role, Amanda was presented with a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Keele University, awarded with a distinction. She had previously started the MBA under a senior leadership apprenticeship scheme.
Says Amanda: “I was pleased and relieved to be awarded the MBA and will never forget the encouragement of my Mum, Kath, who urged me to complete it, even though she had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
“It was one of the things she told me shortly before she died – she wanted me to complete it. I think I can dedicate it to her for giving me the push to see it through.”
Amanda joins a successful and growing team at Eastwood-based Your IT Department, which was recently named in the Top 50 Best Managed IT Companies in the UK for the fourth year in a row.
The sought-after accolade followed a comprehensive assessment, which recognised excellence in a wide range of business operations such as leadership, sales, marketing, customer satisfaction and the adoption of AI.
“This feels like the right place at the right time for me and I’m delighted to be here,” says Amanda. “I can bring a range of skills and experience to the company to help us go from strength to strength.”
A dog-friendly environment is also important to Amanda who has a Yorkshire Terrier called Toby. “Knowing that it’s a dog-friendly office here was a complete game-changer for me,” adds Amanda. “I love Toby to bits and he’s already met the other office dog, Rosie, so that’s great too.”
