A weight loss coach with over 12 years’ experience in the industry has launched a new digital wellbeing platform, to aid people with pressure-free weight loss and help them move away from the quick-fix culture that New Year’s resolutions can bring.
Droitwich-based certified diet and nutrition advisor, Jen Flannigan, launched Evolve to help people live without guilt and pressure when it comes to weight loss. Approaching it through in-person and online group coaching, alongside meal plans and courses around mindset and creating lasting change.
Prior to launching Evolve, Jen experienced her own weight loss challenges and lost five stone in a year. She worked as a consultant for a national weight loss organisation and saw that focusing on the scales wasn’t helping sustained lifestyle changes, and launched Evolve to provide support that focused on confidence, mindset, and nutrition.
Jen comments: “Weight loss is often rigid and inflexible, focused on making people feel guilty and think negatively about food. It shouldn’t be this way. Food is more than fuel, it’s something to be enjoyed – and small changes can make a big difference to how we feel about food and ourselves. We focus on confidence and mindset, then use the community as the all-year-round support network that you need.
“We’ve had huge success with our in-person groups and I am delighted that we’re now able to take the Evolve way online. Our new online membership allows us to reach people far and wide, and show them a different – and lasting – way to look and feel how they want without shame or judgement.”
Just over two years since launching, Evolve has supported more than 2,000 people and following a match funding grant from Worcestershire County Council, is able to expand its services online, taking it from a Midlands business to having national reach.
The new platform offers members access to personalised plans, daily check-ins, and guided challenges. There’s also tailored support for those taking weight loss injections, as well as community discussion boards and a focus on non-scale victories. There are also recipes from Evolve’s first cookbook, which has over 100 recipes, budget and family-friendly meals, and practical meal ideas that work alongside any healthy eating plan.
“In today’s world, we’ve become accustomed to quick fixes and fitting a certain standard, which isn’t sustainable and doesn’t support the most important factor: feeling good. I am so happy that we’re able to expand what we do because we know it works; we don’t force our members onto the scales or talk about any food as being something bad. We focus on mental health, lifestyle changes that are actually obtainable, and forgiveness when things don’t go to plan.
We’ve got big ambitions to build a new standard for those who want to change their lifestyle – and I’m excited that our new online platform means that we can continue our growth plans and support people beyond the region.”
Evolve won ‘Most Promising Business’ at this year’s Hereford & Worcester Chamber of Commerce Awards and was crowned winner at the Midlands Start-up Awards. The business was also a finalist in the national UK Start-up Awards, as well as The Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
