Mosaic@Soho: The creative studio where 97p of every £1 funds social mobility

Capital City College has launched Mosaic@Soho, a new creative production hub in the heart of London’s media district, offering industry-standard facilities with a radically different purpose: 97p of every £1 spent is reinvested directly into social mobility initiatives.

Located in Soho, Mosaic@Soho provides high-end creative infrastructure including green screen studios, podcast suites, grading and post-production facilities, virtual production, animation suites, and a screening theatre. Unlike traditional commercial studios, Mosaic operates on a reinvestment-first model — with no shareholders and no profit extraction.

Every booking, from a one-hour podcast session to a full-scale film shoot, directly funds bursaries, digital equipment, mentoring, wellbeing support, and clear pathways into the creative industries for students and young people from underrepresented backgrounds across London.

“At a time when access to creative careers remains deeply unequal, Mosaic@Soho shows how consumer spending can create measurable social impact.

We created Mosaic@Soho to give creatives a home in Soho where innovation meets efficiency — a place to deliver outstanding creative work while making a real, lasting difference. This is not a corporate social responsibility add-on; it is the business model,” said Simon Downing, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer at Capital City College.

The launch comes amid stark inequality across the cultural sector. Only 9.8% of managers in the UK’s cultural industries come from ethnic minority backgrounds, highlighting systemic barriers to progression and access. Mosaic@Soho is designed as a practical response, giving students genuine access to professional spaces, live industry briefs, and real-world production environments.

By embedding students directly into industry-standard workflows, Mosaic aims to act as a launchpad into creative careers, while offering production companies, agencies, and creators a transparent way to align their spend with social value.
