Leo’s Angels, the memorial fund dedicated to harnessing technology to transform epilepsy care and save lives, has raised an impressive £10,000 after completing a 13-mile charity walk to honour the memory of Leo O’Brien on what would have been his 13th birthday.
Founded in memory of Leo, who tragically died in 2023 from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), Leo’s Angels is dedicated to driving technological innovation in epilepsy care. The initiative was founded by Leo’s mum Emma, CEO of Embridge Consulting, the digital transformation specialist empowering people, processes and technology.
Having taken place on Saturday 29th November, the walk was supported by over 80 participants and began in Woolwich, Southeast London before following a route along the iconic Thames Path, and finishing at London Bridge.
After completing the walk, Emma said: “We want to do everything we can to keep Leo’s memory alive and to raise as much money as possible in his honour. Those living with epilepsy deserve the best possible care, but the current healthcare system is slow and ill-equipped. This can cause delays in patients accessing effective treatments, and we want to change this.
“What better way to recognise what would have been Leo’s 13th birthday than by bringing people together to celebrate his life and create lasting memories? We’re so honoured and grateful that so many people were able to join us on the day and make the walk such a meaningful experience, thank you!”
