M·E·L Research announces new appointments and promotion in landmark 40th anniversary year

Birmingham-based social research agency, M·E·L Research, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Research Managers and the promotion of a Senior Research Manager, further strengthening its Insights Team during the company’s 40th anniversary year.

Michael Keating and Roisin Coleman have joined the organisation as Research Managers, while Tamsin Maries has been promoted from Research Manager to Senior Research Manager, recognising her significant contribution and leadership.

Michael Keating joined M·E·L Research in November 2025. He is an experienced mixed-methods researcher with a strong track record of engaging seldom-heard and hard-to-reach audiences across a range of complex policy and regulatory topics. His previous work includes research on financial vulnerability, digital exclusion, housing, stakeholder engagement and environmental sustainability for clients such as the Financial Conduct Authority, Citizens Advice and Consumer Scotland.

Roisin Coleman joined in September 2025, bringing over seven years’ experience across the arts, cultural, heritage and charitable sectors. She specialises in managing complex, multi-methodology projects, with expertise in audience insight and segmentation, evaluation frameworks, cultural programme evaluation, and strategic planning. Roisin has led both UK and international projects and is passionate about improving access to culture for underserved communities.

The promotion of Tamsin Maries to Senior Research Manager reflects her extensive experience in social and market research, particularly in research with children, young people and families, neurodivergent individuals, education, employee and resident research, and technology studies. Tamsin has delivered projects for clients including Shelter, the British Dyslexia Association, the Care Quality Commission, local authorities and universities, and brings over a decade of experience across qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Commenting on the appointments, Steve Handley, Director – Insights Team, said: “This is an exciting time for M·E·L Research as we celebrate our 40th anniversary. Expanding the Insights Team with Michael and Roisin, and promoting Tamsin to Senior Research Manager, reflects both the growth of our work and the depth of talent within the business. These appointments demonstrate our continued commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful research and investing in our people as we go from strength to strength.”

The new appointments and promotion underline M·E·L Research’s continued growth and evolution, reinforcing its position as a trusted research partner across public, private and third sector clients as it enters its fifth decade.
