Last-minute tickets are still available for JJ “Jinky” Gilmour’s Breaking the Silence show at Oran Mor on Thursday 27 November. Tickets are £25 plus booking fee and available through Tickets Scotland. This follows a sold-out Airdrie date that ended with two standing ovations.
Breaking the Silence marks the first time in over 25 years that he has returned to the songs he performed with The Silencers. He appears with a strong Scottish line-up featuring Phil Kane, Ross McFarlane, Lewis Gordon and Jon Mackenzie.
JJ “Jinky” Gilmour is a Scottish singer-songwriter with a three-decade career and a long association with The Silencers, one of Scotland’s best-loved bands. He joined as a backing vocalist in 1989 and rose to share lead vocals during a period that saw the band tour internationally and sell close to a million records. Since launching his solo career in 2001, he has released a run of well-received albums and worked with leading producers and musicians across Scotland, Ireland, Europe and the USA. His work also includes writing for theatre, such as the musical Dancing Shoes, based on the life of George Best.
Jinky Gilmour said: “I am so excited to bring this show to Glasgow’s Oran Mor. It’s the first time in over 25 years I’ll be performing all the songs I sang with my previous band The Silencers. I’ll be joined by an all-star line up of Scottish musicians who have been successful with their own Scottish bands with the likes of The Proclaimers, Texas and Deacon Blue.”
Doors open at 19:30 at Oran Mor on Byres Road. Tickets can be purchased at https://tickets-scotland.com/jjg04. General admission standing, with under-16s allowed only with an adult.
