Thanks to players of The Health Lottery, £15,000 has been awarded to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity to help fund group support, 1 to 1 help and a daily drop-in service.
The grant awarded by The Health Lottery Foundation goes towards the cost of their Hub to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and families.
The Hub is a non-clinical, family friendly, welcoming space in the hospital that support families’ practical and emotional needs, through youth work, family support, creative activities and complementary therapies.
It also arranges visits to children wherever they are in hospital as some children are too ill or too vulnerable to leave their wards. Alongside children’s medical treatment, families urgently need additional support, which The Hub seeks to provide.
Martin Ellice, MD of The Health Lottery said,”We’re delighted to be able to support the work of this charity in the Scottish capital, we admire their work greatly!”
