Legendary music journalist, author and broadcaster Billy Sloan will headline the next Bookface Sip & Swap event at Glaschu on Saturday, 29 November, in what promises to be a highlight for Scotland’s book and music lovers alike.
Guests will enjoy coffee, croissants and fizz, alongside Bookface’s signature sustainable book swap — featuring over 300 titles to browse and trade. Each attendee will also receive a free copy of Billy’s acclaimed memoir One Love, One Life.
After a 45-minute Q&A with Billy Sloan, guests can join the book swap — bringing up to four books of any genre in good condition. Those without books are still welcome to take part.
Few know the music industry like Billy Sloan. His five-decade career has seen him interview and befriend some of the biggest names in music — from Rod Stewart and Bono to Simple Minds, Dolly Parton and The Proclaimers.
A familiar voice on BBC Radio Scotland, Billy began his career in 1979 with a pioneering Radio Clyde show that gave early exposure to countless Scottish acts. He’s written for The Daily Record, Sunday Mail, The Sunday Times, Daily Express, Sunday Post and The Glasgow Herald, and served as Music Correspondent for STV, producing coverage of T in the Park and Scotland Today.
As a biographer, he’s worked with Simple Minds, Cliff Richard, Wet Wet Wet, Hue and Cry, and The Associates, earning the respect of artists across generations. His memoir One Love, One Life captures an extraordinary backstage life in music.
