Honouring heritage, community, and connection through food.
In celebration of Black History Month, on the 10th of October, Tasty African Food proudly supported the Newham University Hospital Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) Network, by providing complimentary food packs as staff and guests gathered under this year’s theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.”
The event brought together hospital staff, community leaders, and special guests to celebrate Black heritage, resilience, and achievement. Among the representatives from Tasty African Food was Modupeore Awe, the restaurant’s Head of Business and Strategy, who spoke passionately about the importance of recognising and celebrating Black History — highlighting key issues that continue to affect the Black community, such as Sickle Cell awareness.
“At Tasty African Food, we are proud to stand in solidarity with this cause,” said Modupeore Awe. “As a brand built to serve the African community, we see food as more than just nourishment — it’s connection, culture, and comfort.
Our mission has always been to bring people together through authentic African meals made with love and offered at an affordable price. Because when we share food, we share stories. We build community. And it’s through that sense of togetherness that we can drive awareness and inspire action for causes like this.

The celebration featured an engaging programme of talks and networking, recognising the vital role of Black and ethnic minority staff within the NHS and beyond. Guests were treated to a variety of Tasty African Food dishes, prepared to showcase the vibrant flavours and traditions of African cuisine.
