For today, the Vicarage Road stadium will be transformed into a vaccination centre, distributing the Pfizer vaccination to anyone aged 18+ who hasn’t yet been vaccinated.
Running from 10am until 9pm today (Sunday 27 June), the super-sized clinic is designed to support the town’s efforts to reduce infection rates, protect people from new variants of the virus and save our summer.
People who go along won’t need to provide ID or don’t need to be registered with a GP – and can either book ahead or just turn up on the day.
The initiative is being supported by Watford Borough Council, the NHS, Hertfordshire County Council, Watford FC and a whole host of community organisations.

Alternatively, you can walk up on the day without an appointment, but please be prepared to queue to enter the stadium in whatever the weather has in store! Everyone is advised to bring a drink along to sip while they wait, and to have a snack before they set off for Vicarage Road.
Dr Asif Faizy, Board GP Watford and Three Rivers and Locality Chair said: “Getting vaccinated is the way to protect yourself and your loved ones, please come down to the FC; myself and all of the doctors will be happy to answer any questions you have. There will be helpers there who speak a number of the languages used locally if you need a translator.”
Entry to the stadium will be from outside The Hornets shop and down Occupation Road. The stadium is fully wheelchair accessible and disabled parking is available. A managed queueing system will be in place to ensure social distancing is maintained and face masks must be worn at all times when inside the building (unless exempt).
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said “I am delighted we are now able to speed up the protection to the local community through this mass vaccination clinic, as it will give us the best chance locally of being able to enjoy the things we love in the summer. I would like to thank everyone who is helping us make this happen, especially the local doctors and volunteers, as well of course Watford FC, the businesses who have sponsored it, and the charities supporting it. The best thing that any of us can do to stop Covid spreading in Watford is to get both doses of the vaccine.”
The day will be supported by Watford Chamber of Commerce, local charity Sewa Day, Wenzels, Dominos, Costco and Tesco (Rickmansworth and Watford branches) who are helping staff and visitors refreshed, as well as street entertainment from Dickensian Ding Dong, Sid Bowfin, Sparky the Robot and Elton Wrong to keep people entertained and spirits high whilst they wait for their vaccine.
