Wyre Forest District Council has teamed up with Kidderminster-based marketing agency, Citizen Communication, to devise a creative campaign encouraging people to continue adhering to COVID-19 restrictions as they return to beauty spots and tourist attractions in the area.
The local authority approached the award-winning agency – which it has worked with for several years – for help with creating its ‘Keep Playing Your Part’ project.
The campaign, which launched at the end of April, is aimed at urging local residents and visitors to act responsibly when returning to popular destinations across the region following the easing of lockdown.
As part of the project, Citizen worked with the Council to create a photo and video shoot depicting many of the district’s most scenic areas and attractions, including the Severn Valley Railway and West Midlands Safari Park.
The campaign also saw the agency produce adverts asking people to follow the rules at each stage, wash their hands regularly, wear a face mask as required and socially distance from others, which were displayed on the side of refuse collection lorries and in local newspapers.
In addition to this, Citizen is set to deliver a campaign across social media channels on behalf of the Council in a further effort to encourage people to follow safety guidelines when getting back to local places of interest.
Kim Neville, Communications and Engagement Officer for Wyre Forest District Council, said: “We are very happy to be working on this very important public health information campaign with such a positive and creative team who are based within the district and have an in-depth knowledge of the local area.”
Charlotte Holmes, Client Services Director at Citizen Communication, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Wyre Forest District Council by helping them create this incredibly important campaign.
“The past year has been very difficult for people right across Worcestershire and beyond, and it is therefore understandable how eager local residents and visitors are to reunite properly with friends and family and return to nearby spots of natural beauty and tourist attractions.
“However, it is vital that we all continue to play our part by adhering to restrictions relating to coronavirus, including social distancing, wearing a face covering and obeying the rule of six wherever required.
“It is our hope that this project will help raise awareness of the importance of complying with the rules as we look to take a cautious yet irreversible step closer to normality.”
Founded in 1987, Citizen Communication has extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of marketing and has worked with both global FTSE 100 companies such as BT, EE and Europcar, as well as local firms and charities including Bewdley Museum.
