With Covid restrictions starting to ease off, a lot of people will be looking to Travel and getaway obviously; this is something that you cannot do at the moment unless you have a permitted reason to travel, but it is always a good idea to be clued up on what the rules are for travelling during Covid should you find you have too.
If you are someone that is going to need to travel during Covid or you think you may need to in the future, then here are a few things you need to check and prepare for before travelling and also some advice for once you are abroad.

Before travelling
Firstly you will need to make sure you have a permitted reason to be travelling and then complete a declaration form for international travel. You will also want to sign up to travel advice alerts that you get via email for where you are travelling to; this is so you get any updates on travel while you are away. Make sure you check any entry requirements for the country you are travelling to and if they require a negative Covid test. Also, check all accommodation and places you are travelling to make sure that there are no restrictions that would affect you once there; also, make sure you have travel insurance that has the appropriate cover for you.
When you get there
Make sure you stay updated with travel advice and be ready to make changes to your stay or plans for any changes that come through, especially if they are local restrictions and any testing requirements or quarantines they may want. If you do test positive for Covid while abroad, you may need to seek treatment while there and not come back till you have recovered and provide a negative test. Make sure you plan for any delays as you may not be able to travel back when expected if restrictions change, so have back up money and make sure things are in order at home should there be a delay.
You can also utilize left luggage st pancras while you wait too. It’s handy to have resources like this in place.
Getting ready to return home
Make sure you do a test up to 3 days before setting off to come home as required for the UK; you will need to present a negative test when you return to the UK. You also will need to fill in a passenger locator form up to 48 hours before entering the UK and make sure you check the Banned travel red list to make sure your country or any countries you may have passed through are not on there, should it be on there then you will be required to book into a managed quarantine hotel. Once you are back in the UK, make sure you book Covid tests and quarantine as required until you return a negative test, you can use the test to release to reduce your quarantine time should you have been in a blocklist country.
If you are travelling during covid then hopefully, these few tips for going away and coming back will help you prepare as best as possible and make it as smooth an experience as possible.
