Leading North West refrigeration company backs team experience with unique age diversity policy

Why retire when you love what you do?

When faced with losing one of their key members of staff just because they had passed retirement age, the Directors at Brooktherm Refrigeration Ltd came up with a win-win solution.

Although now 68, Kevin Ashcroft didn’t want to retire from his duties as Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager (QHSE) and the directors didn’t want to lose the 50+ years of industry and life experience that Kevin brought to the business. The solution? A new role for Kevin so that he can keep doing what he loves.

Kevin, who is now working four days a week as Training Manager, said, “Being offered this new role was a Godsend, I wasn’t looking forward to retirement and daytime TV. Brooktherm is a family owned and run company and their focus on customer satisfaction and the pursuit of excellence make it a great place to work”.

Company Owners, Jamie and Danny Keating, had no doubts about offering this new deal to Kevin. “Kevin is a real asset to the business. His experience is second to none and now he will be able to continue to share that experience with others. For us, retaining Kevin within the business was an easy decision. He is part of the Brooktherm family!” said Jamie Keating
