London mum diagnosed with Covid 24 hours before due date raffles Coulsdon Townhouse for a new life in Australia

Yumi, a wholesale director for sustainable Kidswear brands and electrician Matt, met in 2014 and 8 months later, embarked on travelling the world together for two years. They were engaged in Machu Picchu Peru in March 2018 for Yumi’s 30th birthday and married in Mykonos August 2019, where they surprised their guests by announcing the wonderful news that they were 3 months pregnant. At this time, there was so much happiness celebrating with 100 guests abroad but nobody knew that a pandemic was around the corner and their joyful lives were soon to be upended.

From being diagnosed with Covid 24 hours before her due date, having her plans of a home birth cancelled and then experiencing a traumatic birth, Yumi was relieved and delighted when, after just 6 pushes, Ori finally made his way into the world and was placed onto her chest. Yumi remembers that euphoric feeling, not knowing then that it was the calm before the storm.

Shortly after the birth, serious, life-threatening medical emergencies ensued for both Yumi and baby Ori with the pandemic only adding further distress.

Thankfully, things began to settle and clinging to the hope and love for her new family unit, Yumi says that she knew deep down that when you hit rock bottom, there is only one place to go – up. After many deep, heart-felt talks with her supportive husband Matt, both feeling so grateful that they had finally come out of this most distressing period of their lives, they decided it was now time to put the negative episodes of 2020 behind them and focus on living the positive, happy life they’d always dreamed of.

So, The Palmers decided to pack up in a pandemic, sell their home and emigrate to Australia, Sydney but not by following the conventional method of selling their house privately. They’ve decided to put their house into a prize competition on Raffal. You can enter for £3, and win this dream 3-bed Coulsdon Townhouse with no mortgage by the summer. Their incentive is that it will give someone a life changing opportunity, support their move to Australia and also raise £10k each for two Charities, in particular Alzheimer’s Society which is close to Yumi’s heart after her mum was diagnosed. They’re receiving an amazing response, the community surrounding The Coulsdon Townhouse on social media is full of light and positivity, which we all need right now.

Yumi says “Ori has been our guiding light, I am on an amazing breastfeeding journey and have such a strong bond. Despite everything and seeing things quite negatively until recently, I can honestly say This Raffall has enabled me to turn my thoughts around 360 – I’m feeling strong mentally, happy and grateful for the last year.”
