The Solihull-based start-up is the result of a passion for sustainably-minded and stylish homeware. It was founded by Catherine Maguire during lockdown last Spring. Casa Celva seeks to bring sense of discovery, excitement, and appreciation for the craft back into every-day homeware.
When sourcing homeware for herself, she found that there was a lack of choice for people who are design-minded and eco-friendly. And thus, Casa Celva was born.
Catherine wanted to brighten up her home during quarantine but the only sustainably sourced options she could find were overly practical and dull. As she puts it: “I felt like I had to choose between doing good or looking good! I lived in Mexico for four years, and everything I owned was sourced from local markets; colourful handmade ceramics, hand sewn textiles and knick-knacks which I treasure and will keep with me forever. This sentiment I wanted to incorporate into every Casa Celva product; a sense of discovery and appreciation for the craft.”.
Casa Celva’s range of handblown Murano glass tumblers are launching in Liberty London this week. Renowned for showcasing the latest in home and interior trends, Liberty London is a huge endorsement for the local start-up.
Catherine is “absolutely thrilled to be launching in Liberty! They have always championed British designers and brands so to be a part of that is very exciting!”.
Each glass is handmade by master glass blowers on the small island of Murano close to Venice. The tiny island has been synonymous with the highest quality glassware since the 13th century. As such, it was the first place Catherine looked to when sourcing glassware.
Working closely with classically-trained artisans from around the world, Casa Celva’s products are made using centuries old traditional techniques and using locally sourced materials.
From the sourcing process to the packaging, Catherine continues to grow Casa Celva into a brand that delivers vibrant pieces for your home while supporting ancient artisanal traditions.
