North East based start-up Decote Loungewear has launched a charity sweatshirt this week, donating 5% of sales to UK charity YoungMinds.
YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity in fighting for children and young people’s mental health. They offer support, advice and resources for young people and families including a CrisisMessenger text service which is ran by trained volunteers.
Decote Loungewear launched in November 2020, a business started by dance teacher and mum Jo-Anne Torre. After losing a loved one, Jo-Anne found peace and comfort in seeing feathers, meaning that someone was watching over her. This idea of strength and positivity from something so small is how the brand developed and, combined with her love of dance and loungewear, has grown into what it is today!
Since the lockdown, Jo-Anne has taken her dance classes online and has seen first-hand how children have been affected:
“Over the past year, I have really noticed the impact that the pandemic has had on children’s mental health – it’s clear to see that what we’ve been through over the past year has had an effect on young people and will continue to do so for some time.”
Jo-Anne’s son also suffers from ADHD and anxiety, something that has affected his everyday life which has also shown the value of charities like YoungMinds.
The Unity Sweatshirt has been created to inspire others, remind them of the importance of Unity, Power and Positivity (the bold mantra on the front of the sweatshirt), while doing something truly valuable to help a UK charity.
The sweatshirt comes in adults (XS – XXL) and kids (3-15) sizes, you can shop here: https://www.decoteloungewear.com/shop/sweatshirts-and-hoodies/the-unity-sweatshirt/.
