Mersey Youth Support Trust (MYST) is a charitable organisation that provides bespoke business advice, programmes, workshops, networking & funding opportunities and affordable workplaces to people who face particular barriers to conventional employment. Helping them take responsibility for their own future by exploring the possibility of self-employment, MYST builds a community environment where creative, like-minded people empower each other during the business cycle.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, MYST has spent the last decade working with Merseyside-based individuals, supporting local disadvantaged entrepreneurs get the education, business advice and the financial and technical assistance they need to grow and thrive.
This anniversary year is already looking like a year to remember for MYST as it reviews, refocuses, redevelops, and relaunches the MYST profile and objectives post-Covid. In a year where a record 337 entries were submitted to the Steve Morgan Foundation 20th Anniversary Awards, MYST were awarded runner up in the Best Entrepreneurial Charity or Social Enterprise Under £250k category. “We came away from the awards feeling ecstatic,” said Kevin Lovelady, Centre Manager at MYST.
Over its ten years, MYST has supported over 225 businesses who have created over 480 jobs between them. With its first decade ending in award-winning success, MYST has no plans to slow down. “As we move out of Covid restrictions, in the short to medium term, MYST aims to re-animate workshops, open days and other events to create an optimistic buzz in these uncertain times. We’ve also created our new monthly Community Coffee in order to connect with other local charities/organisations, promote their services and more” said Lovelady
In the longer term, looking to expand across the Liverpool City Region and work with partners, the charity will continue to enhance the support it can offer entrepreneurs, growing the network and communities of MYST- supported businesses
