HSPG announces partnership with homeless charity Street Paws

  • Partnership follows news that number of people homeless in England is predicted to jump by a third
  • Commitment to support Street Paws forms part of HSPG’s wider ambition to support solutions to UK homelessness crisis

HSPG, the UK’s leading social impact real estate firm, has announced its new partnership with Street Paws, a charity that supports homeless people in being housed with their pets. In support of Street Paws, HSPG is hosting a charity pool tournament to raise vital funds for their work.

Street Paws provides free and accessible vet care and support to homeless people and their pets across the UK. With many temporary accommodation options for people experiencing homelessness often requiring the separation from their pets, Street Paws champions the welcoming of pets by accommodation providers.

With house prices continuing to rise by 12.1% in April at the very same time that inflation rises to the highest level in 30 years, more and more people are at risk of homelessness. It has never been more crucial to ensure that everyone has access to a home regardless of if they own a pet or not. In fact, with 87% of pet owners suggesting their mental health improves due to their pet, the value of supporting people experiencing homelessness in remaining with their pets is clear.

HSPG was founded by Guy Horne and David Searle with the sole aim to help end the UK’s homelessness crisis. With homelessness in England predicted to jump by a third to more than 66,000 by 2024, the need to support people into safe and high-quality accommodation is clear. HSPG’s pool tournament will raise vital funds to support Street Paws in its mission of housing more homeless people with their pets.

This partnership with Street Paws forms part of HSPG’s wider commitment to driving impact across all levels of a community. HSPG’s dedication to making a difference within local communities does not just stop at the provision of Affordable and Supported Housing. In fact, the HSPG Charity Foundation has already raised more than £15,000 for charities.

Equally, the Manchester office has recently undertaken a charity clothes donation drive as well as a steps challenge in support of the Disaster Emergency Committee’s urgent Ukraine appeal. With the team having undertaken the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of homelessness charity Centrepoint and planning various Tough Mudders in the year ahead, this partnership with Street Paws forms part of HSPG’s wider commitment to making a difference.

Guy Horne, CEO and co-founder at HSPG, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with Street Paws in support of their aim to help homeless people and their pets into accommodation. At the core of HSPG’s mission is the ambition to end the homelessness crisis. Our pool tournament will provide much needed funding for Street Paws’ work to ensure everyone has access to a home without having to be separated from their pet. With the entire team very proud of the impact we generate though our charitable work, we are looking forward to continuing working with vital charity partners such as Street Paws.”

Michelle Southern, Founder and Director at Street Paws, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have support from HSPG in a partnership to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

Street Paws believes that the homelessness crisis cannot be solved unless everyone is supported into accommodation including those homeless with pets. The lack of pet friendly accommodation across the UK is being addressed with our innovative Dog Champion Scheme which offers training, support and vet care to allow hostels to welcome pets. HSPG are a perfect fit for our charitable aim to ensure that everyone homeless with a four-legged family member has a safe place to sleep.”
