FHT are one of the representatives of the Integrated Medicine Alliance (IMA) that met with HRH The Prince of Wales at Clarence House last week.
The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) are proud to announce their participation in the Integrated Medicine Alliance (IMA).
The group met with HRH The Prince of Wales at Clarence House on Wednesday 4th May. The aim of the Integrated Medicine Alliance is to inform, educate and enable access to qualified complementary clinicians.
Initiated by Dr Michael Dixon, Chair of the College of Medicine, the IMA was launched in February 2022 at the Integrative Health Convention (IHC), alongside colleagues Dr Naveed Akhtar and Dr Toh Wong. FHT are one of the founding members, supporting the IMA alongside other leading complementary therapy organisations such as the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) and the Association of Reflexologists (AoR).
Coming together for the purpose of encouraging and optimising the best use of complementary therapies alongside conventional healthcare for patients and clinicians, the IMA is looking to benefit the public with CAM methods, reduce unnecessary drug prescribing, expand social prescribing, benefit patients’ health and support patient empowerment.
In his speech for the IHC, Dr Michael Dixon said “for too many years, the complementary community has been too divided and behaved like tribes, which are all too common place in orthodox medicine and so many other walks of life. Today is the official birth of the Integrated Medicine Alliance. This is a coming together of inspiring leaders covering all the main complementary modalities.”
He said: “Integrated medicine is so much about what people can do for themselves and each other, and their communities both in healing and in enabling people and communities to be more resilient. It allows GPs to apply art and science, to use the power of compassionate relationships and the influence of mind and body in healing.”
Monica Price, CEO, who is attending on behalf of FHT, says: “I am delighted to part of the IMA, not only for our members benefit, but also to ensure the future of integrated medicine. I believe passionately that CAM has a place in the UK, and we will support that in any way that we can.”
