So on Sunday 24th April, over 55 people joined together at 304 Clothing studio to take part in the 24 Hour cycle to raise money for Mental health awareness charities.
Things kicked off at 10AM with teams of 4 completing 1 hour on the bike before passing the baton on to the next team of 4 to complete a further hour on the bike. A total of 1011 miles were cycled over the course of the 24 hours, smashing the goal of 857 miles which was the goal of travelling from Lands End to John O Groates.
A representative from The Samaritans came to the event and completed an interview with BBC Midlands Today which you will be able to see on iplayer, explaining just how important it is for young men to speak up and work together in managing mental health.
125 lives are lost every week to suicide and 75% of all UK suicides are male. It’s time to take action to encourage people to take the journey to talk about mental health.
The target of £1000 was absolutely blown out the water with a £500 donation coming in at 12PM, which gave the over night cyclist the lift that was needed to complete the gruelling hours between 12-5AM. The total now sits at £2,500 donated on the just giving page & over 100 items of the Stand Together merchandise sold.
You can still donate for the next few weeks via the just giving page & also grab any merchandise via the link below
