- CHEC’s unique stand offers chance to conduct cataract surgery in a dry lab
- Event expected to attract over 9,500 visitors and over 200 exhibitors between 23rd – 25thof April
CHEC, one of the largest providers of community-based ophthalmology services in the UK, has announced it will be the entrance sponsor for 100% Optical, the fastest growing optical event in Europe and largest in the UK. The event will be hosted 23rd – 25th April at London’s ExCeL Centre.
As a major sponsor, CHEC will be establishing a highly innovative stand in partnership with Théa Pharmaceuticals providing the opportunity for event attendees to conduct cataract surgery on a demonstration model in a dry lab, showcasing the latest techniques in ophthalmologic surgery. Adding an element of exciting friendly competition, CHEC’s CEO and consultant ophthalmologist, Dr Imran Rahman will be awarding an iPad to the best surgeon each day.
CHEC’s stand will also function as the perfect networking location, with an on-hand barista serving unlimited free cups of coffee. Dr Rahman and CHEC’s knowledgeable Customer Engagement Team will be at the stand to answer any questions attendees might have.
Partnered with the Association of Optometrists, 100% Optical will showcase the latest industry tech and facilitate networking for industry peers and organisations and is attended by over 4,000 optometrists, 1,000 practice owners and 2,000 dispensing opticians. The exhibition will feature expert driven workshops on consulting, diagnostics, dispensing and industry trends.
On the 24th of April at 09.30, Dr Rahman, is hosting a discussion entitled “Managing the COVID-19 backlog in ophthalmology” to explore the role community-based approaches to healthcare have in reducing NHS waiting lists, which have dramatically increased during the pandemic.
As an expert in his field, Dr Rahman is best placed to explain how offering high-quality end-to-end care in the centre of communities can reduce the burden placed on the NHS and ensure patients do not have to see multiple providers, which increases the chance of cancelations, a trigger for backlogs.
CHEC will be joined on its stand by its strategic partner, the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), a charity offering support and advice to two million people in the UK experiencing sight loss. CHEC partnered with RNIB in April 2022 to ensure Eye Care Liaison Officers will be on hand to provide tailored practical and emotional support to patients.
Both the sponsorship of 100% Optical and the partnership with RNIB mark CHEC’s recent growth and successful expansion of clinics and services, with sites opening in key hubs across the UK, including Nottingham, Leicester and Northampton.
Imran Rahman, CEO and consultant ophthalmologist, said: “We are very excited to be the entrance sponsors for 100% Optical, a respected and prestigious event in the ophthalmology industry. We would welcome attendees to come visit us at stand L430 and try out our unique dry lab. I am honoured to be hosting a discussion on managing the COVID-19 backlog, something that lies at the very core of what we aim to do at CHEC through our community-based approaches to healthcare.”
