London entrepreneur and Founder of TingTang Dry Wash Shampoo, Purdey Collier, is celebrating after being crowned a winner by Theo Paphitis at his Small Business Sunday (#SBS) awards ceremony.
#SBS is run by business owner, retail entrepreneur and former Dragon’s Den investor, Theo Paphitis, to help support small businesses. Those who win are hand-selected by Theo himself who then retweets the business to his half a million followers. Only 0.8% of entries to the competition are successful.
Purdey was awarded her certificate in person by Theo at the annual #SBS event held in Birmingham for her business, TingTang, which allows you to wash without water. She won the award from the former Dragons’ Den Boss and his #SBS initiative for her success in running the business.
“It was a fantastic day, with lots of opportunities to talk to businesses about our plans for the future, and to be surrounded by so many inspiring people, businesses and stories,” Purdey said.
“To be hand selected by Theo and receive this award from such a successful and influential entrepreneur, was brilliant for a small business like mine and such a confidence boost.
“TingTang is a dry wash shampoo – a dry shampoo that actually cleans, no water needed. Inspired by my daughter’s aversion to having her hair washed & the Mum Guilt I felt from resulting bathtime battles, our core customers are busy mums and their Tots, those who find traditional bathing a challenge, who suffer from chronic illness or disability. I’m elated to have helped so many and excited to take the product to a larger audience”
“My vision is to get TingTang into almost every house. Whether for women facing regular hot flushes with the menopause, carers or those in care, those suffering from chronic illness or those with autism or sensory processing issues. In hospital bags, gym bags, camping or festival bags or ‘just in case’ for when the boiler goes!
Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. I wish Purdey and TingTang every success.”
