A national campaign to promote essential burn prevention advice is being supported by Spectral AI.
Last year, more than 20,000 children and adults received serious burns and scalds in the UK.
In a bid to reduce the number of injuries, the Children’s Burns Trust and the British Burn Association have once again joined forces to run this year’s National Burns Awareness Day which will take place on Wednesday, October 15.
To raise awareness about this year’s event, Spectral AI is running a dedicated social media campaign on its Facebook page during October, featuring a range of tips and advice to help people stay safe.
The cause is close to the company’s heart because its DeepView AI® System is giving NHS doctors and nurses at hospitals across the country a prediction of how burn wounds will heal on the day an injury occurs. Healthcare professionals can use the prediction, alongside their clinical judgement, to quickly determine the best course of treatment for their patient.

The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘One Spill Can Change a Child’s Life’ and concentrates on the dangers of hot drinks.
Every day, 30 babies and toddlers go to hospital with a hot burn drink and shockingly 60 per cent of all children attending A&E with a burn injury are there due to a hot drink scald.
Tips to help families prevent children from sustaining hot drink burns are being featured on Spectral AI’s Facebook page this month alongside advice designed to prevent other burn injuries.
