Solihull residents unite to help local older and vulnerable people

Local charity, Age UK Solihull, is thanking Solihull residents for supporting them during tough times.

The charity has been inundated with calls from older or vulnerable people needing help during the coronavirus pandemic.

Members of the local community have been quick to come forward, offering to shop, deliver items to isolated people and to keep in touch by phone, but more help is needed.

While the pressure on Age UK Solihull’s services is increasing, they have also had to cancel several fundraising events, missing out on thousands of pounds. So the charity has set up an emergency fundraising appeal with a target of £25,000 which will go to help those most in need and to keep the charity’s vital services operating.  As a local charity, all money raised will be used to support local Solihull residents.

Age UK Solihull would like to thank everyone who has helped so far, and asks them to keep the support coming.

Age UK Solihull’s CEO, Anne Hastings, says, “Demand for our services is higher than ever and we’re so grateful to anyone who can support us. This is a frightening time for our isolated clients, many of whom find that normal support networks are breaking down. People are calling us worried they don’t have enough to eat and are missing basic supplies, so all the help we can receive to support them is so appreciated.”
