Private Coronavirus tests are now available in the UK – launched by a Midlands-based healthcare company.
Summerfield Healthcare, which runs private practices in Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton and Derby, has launched COVID-19 (Coronavirus) testing, available on mail order after reports that no private tests were available in the UK and very few in the US.
Katie Trimmer, of Summerfield Healthcare, said: “With the symptoms of COVID-19 sometimes taking up to two weeks to show in infected patients, it has become vitally important for swift testing of individuals who believe that they may have come into contact with the virus.
“This is especially important for those who are within the immunocompromised risk groups as defined by the NHS.
“It is also important for businesses who cannot afford to have employees in isolation if they do not have the virus. Employees with potential symptoms, that have been advised to self-isolate, can be tested and immediately return to work if the result is negative.”
Summerfield Healthcare is offering a mail order service that allows people to receive the testing kit within the comfort of their own home.
“Swabs are collected by the person themselves and then sent in sealed samples to our laboratory for analysis,” adds Miss Trimmer.
“Results are available within a day of receipt, ensuring people are provided with either peace of mind or a clear course of action, with no need to travel to an appointment and risk the spread of infection.”
All of the laboratories used by Summerfield Healthcare are UKAS accredited and registered with various NEQAS schemes and accredited to ISO 9002 standards and ISO/IEC17025:2005.
