Louise Howard’s latest solo exhibition, In Catfood & Wine, opened in Kensington at the end of March and immediately made waves. The private viewing quickly reached capacity, with a waitlist forming as art lovers, collectors, and critics crammed into the intimate gallery space to take in her new body of work.
25 pieces were on display from March 28 to April 2 at 144a Kensington Church Street, chosen for its proximity to the influential artist Lucien Freud’s former residence, a key inspiration of Howard’s. Freud’s dedication to psychological realism and nuanced human storytelling can also be seen in Howard’s approach.
Audiences were particularly drawn to Howard’s masterful use of oil and mixed media, which bring richness and texture to each canvas, leading to sales even on the opening night. The work celebrates the beauty found in uncertainty, and reflects Howard’s signature ability to translate raw emotion into visual poetry.
