Generous Ape, a leading sustainable ecommerce marketplace for stylish and responsible brands, appeared on the BBC’s The Apprentice. Generous Ape’s founder, Hugo Empson and Chairman, David Empson appeared as guest buyers on the prime time TV show where candidates pitched their ideas to create a sustainable fashion brand.

The two teams met at the London College of Fashion, where they were tasked with creating an environmentally conscious fashion brand, creating a capsule collection and hosting a fashion show to try and secure buyers.

Team Parallel created a womenswear brand name Reaparel and secured 1500 units from Generous Ape with 2150 total orders and winning the task

Team Ascendancy created Express Up, a niche menswear brand. Generous Ape purchased 150 units and the team secured 1160 order in total losing the task.

Launched in 2021, Generous Ape ( APE is an acronym for Animals, People and Environment) is the online marketplace for stylish, sustainable brands with a heart. From fashion and accessories to homeware and featuring over 200 brands, each brand is hand-selected by the team to give consumers a one-stop shop for all their sustainable purchases.

Speaking about being a guest buyer on The Apprentice, Hugo Empson said: “It’s fantastic to see such a recognised TV show highlighting the importance of sustainability in fashion. The fashion industry is the second-largest industrial polluter, accounting for 10% of global pollution, ranking higher than emissions from air travel. While big brands are gradually making the move to use sustainable fabrics, it is the smaller boutique brands that are making the biggest difference.

At Generous Ape, we provide brands with a platform to reach an audience they couldn’t on their own. We’re continuing to add new and exciting brands to our portfolio to ensure consumers can shop happily and ethically directly to their front door.”

As a champion of eco-friendly living, Generous Ape curates a wide range of premium sustainable products both online and in-store, making it easier than ever for consumers to choose products that align with their values and be able to shop with purpose.

Generous Ape doesn’t just support customers but also actively helps brands grow by offering guidance, advisory support and access to retail opportunities. The brand’s commitment to both consumers and brand partners makes it a unique force in the sustainable retail world.
