RISE Coffee Box, the UK’s leading coffee discovery club, is thrilled to announce that as of February 2025, we have officially become a Certified B Corporation™.
This milestone makes us the only B Corp-certified coffee discovery club in the world and one of just a handful of UK-based B Corp coffee companies. Achieving B Corp status is a testament to our commitment to balancing profit with purpose while meeting the highest standards of verified social, environmental, and ethical performance.
What Does Being a B Corp Mean?
Certified B Corporations are businesses recognised for driving positive change. They lead the way in proving that companies can prioritise people and the planet alongside profitability. Awarded by B Lab, the organisation behind the B Corp movement, this certification demonstrates a company’s transparency, accountability, and dedication to benefiting all stakeholders—including workers, customers, communities, and the environment.
B Lab believes in building a new kind of economy where businesses act as a force for good, and we’re proud to be joining this global community of changemakers.
Why RISE Coffee Box Sought B Corp Certification
At RISE Coffee Box, we’ve always strived to be a force for good in the coffee industry. From day one, we’ve been laser-focused on sourcing ethically produced, high-quality coffees and collaborating with diverse, socially responsible coffee producers. Applying for B Corp certification was a natural progression for us, as it provided an external validation of our existing ethical practices. It took nearly a year of meticulous assessment and process improvements, but we are delighted to now officially call ourselves part of the B Corp movement.
Ben Charalambous, Co-Founder of RISE Coffee Box, said: “We couldn’t be prouder to join this amazing community of businesses proving that doing good and being successful go hand in hand. At RISE, we’ve always believed in the power of coffee to create positive change, and becoming a B Corp is a huge step forward in making sure we hold ourselves accountable to that belief. This certification is only the beginning of what we hope to achieve together with our customers and partners.”
What This Means for the Future of RISE Coffee Box
As a B Corp-certified company, RISE Coffee Box is legally committed to making decisions that benefit all stakeholders—not just shareholders. This commitment will influence everything we do, from improving our sourcing practices to supporting coffee-growing communities worldwide through our 1% Friendly Coffee Fund™.
The Friendly Coffee Fund: Giving Back 1% of All Revenue
As part of our commitment to balancing profit and purpose, RISE Coffee Box dedicates 1% of all revenue to our Friendly Coffee Fund™. This fund supports coffee-growing communities by tackling key challenges such as child labour and access to education.
Our first project in Western Uganda is already making an impact, helping children of coffee farmers go to school instead of working on farms. We’re also developing a second project in Costa Rica to continue this vital work. By working directly with local experts who deeply understand the challenges faced by coffee farmers, we ensure our contributions make a lasting difference.
Initiatives we are focused on
Moving forward, we’re focused on:
- Sourcing within 100 miles of our location wherever possible to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Collaborating with female and diverse coffee producers to empower underrepresented groups in the industry.
- Measuring and documenting the impact of our Friendly Coffee Fund projects to ensure meaningful contributions to the communities we work with.
Why This Matters
The coffee industry faces significant social and environmental challenges, from climate change to economic inequality. As one of the few UK-based B Corp coffee companies, RISE Coffee Box is committed to setting an example of how businesses can lead the way in creating a more ethical and sustainable future for coffee.
When you choose RISE Coffee Box, you’re not just discovering incredible coffees from around the world. You’re supporting a company that is actively working to make the coffee industry fairer, greener, and more inclusive.
