Amber Taylor, a Tunbridge Wells-based business owner and founder of children’s tableware brand Chomp, has joined the female inventors club (women account for just 13% of the field), with her innovative new product, the Bop Baby Suction Plate. The start of Amber’s inventing journey is showcased on BBC One’s new programme, The Big Idea Works, hosted by Dragon’s Den entrepreneur and inventor Sara Davies (now available to stream on BBC iPlayer)
Chomp’s Bop Baby Suction Plate is set to transform the baby weaning stage by tackling common parent frustrations: mess, stress, and food wastage. Designed with a playful twist, it not only brings more fun to mealtimes but also encourages positive mealtime associations for children.
Every pre-order made will donate £1 to children’s charity Family2Family supporting families in need with essential items.
Turning Frustration Into Innovation
Amber Taylor, who has over 20 years of marketing experience and is a mother herself, worked with Sara and a team of experts to bring her vision to life on the show.
“Having been through the weaning stage twice, I was amazed at the lack of high-performance suction plates on the market,” Amber explained. “I wanted to create a solution that combined excellent functionality with versatility and a playful design to make mealtimes less stressful for parents and more enjoyable for children.
As a parent, I’m also acutely aware of the environmental impact of the baby industry. I wanted to tackle this by designing a durable, sustainable product that minimises food waste and reduces the reliance on plastic.”
Available Now for Pre-Order
The Bop Baby Suction Plate is now available for pre-order at www.chompbaby.com with early sales funding its first production run. The Bop Baby Suction Plate Set, priced at £24.99, is designed to:
- Encourage Playful Mealtimes with Less Stress and Mess: The innovative central “bop” push-point keeps the plate secure through superior suction and makes attachment fun for little ones.
- Adapt to On-the-Go Lifestyles: With a matching durable lid, the plate doubles as a travel-friendly lunchbox.
- Minimise Clean-Up: Unique no-drop bungee straps prevent cups and utensils from falling, saving parents valuable time.
- Every pre-order made will donate £1 to children’s charity Family2Family supporting families in need with essential items.
