Gootopia launches Wandsworth Store with Slime-Filled VIP Event

On Wednesday 24th of July, Gootopia launched its newest store in Southside Shopping Centre, Wandsworth. The star-studded event was attended by VIP celebrities, families, media and influencers, who enjoyed the slimiest evening of their lives!

Hosted by Steph McGovern, business journalist and Co-Founder of Gootopia, and fellow Founders Nishi Bowan Saville and Chris Saville, kids were treated to heaps of fun activities.

The highlight of the evening was a slime-making competition, where kids not only had to create a new slime, but also name it and make a label for it. Steph McGovern judged the competition, and one lucky winner received a free birthday party at Gootopia, worth  £200.

The fun didn’t stop there, as there were delicious snacks and treats, a face painting station, and a giant slime-making workshop. Kids also got to take a stuffed goody-bag home, which included toys, sweets, and big tubs of Gootopia’s own Galactic Goo and other slimes they’d made themselves.

The adults at the event were not forgotten! They were also treated to a special Slime and Wine room. One of the experiences that will be making regular appearances in Gootopia’s calendar soon.

Co-founder Nishi said: “Last night’s launch at Gootopia was absolutely fantastic! It was amazing to finally officially open our flagship store and witness the incredible reactions from both kids and grown-ups.”

Co-founder Chris added: “Since setting up about 6 years ago,  we’ve been building towards creating a venue like our new Southside home and it was really heartwarming to see our customers having so much fun. The place had such a buzz-the energy and excitement were unforgettable!”

Located next to Cineworld on the first floor of the Southside Leisure Centre, the new 3003-square-foot store features the vibrant and playful interior styling of designer Siobhan Murphy, best known for her appearance on Alan Carr’s Interior Design Masters.

Inspired by their own kids’ slime experiments, Gootopia founders Nishi Bowan Saville and Chris Saville, originally opened Gootopia at Southside after winning a pop-up space in the Retail SoapBox competition last April, beating out 200 other brands. Gootopia has now found a more permanent home at a much bigger venue to continue providing amazing experiences to both kids and adults.

The Gootopia team is excited to welcome the community to its playful new space. Join them at Southside Shopping Centre to explore all that Gootopia has to offer!
