Hitting the green for its 25th year running, the annual NSPCC fundraiser held at Edgbaston Golf Club has raised over £20,000 for the child protection charity in its latest event.

The golf competition, which took place last month (Friday 5 July), was organised by the NSPCC’s West Midlands Business Board and McAuliffe Group, and has been running every year since 1999.

Companies from across the West Midlands enrolled a team for the event including Persimmon Homes, Clarke Willmott, Odour Services International Ltd, and Blue Machinery. The McAuliffe Group have supported the Annual Golf Day with sponsorship and organisation for the last 6 years.

Anna-Maria McAuliffe has been a member of the NSPCC West Midlands Business Board since the end of last year. She attended the event with her six-year-old cockapoo Freddy, the Golf Day Mascot.

Anna-Maria said: “As an NSPCC West Midlands Business Board member and a Director of McAuliffe, I am so proud of the success of this annual event. McAuliffe became the main sponsor back in 2018 and thanks to the generosity of our clients, key suppliers, and NSPCC supporters we keep beating the previous year’s fundraising amount.

“The NSPCC golf days are always so much fun. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the weather was glorious. The bar is set high in anticipation of the next one!”

The competition winners were the Blue Machinery Group, with Persimmon Homes coming in second place and National Law firm Clarke Wilmott coming third.

All three companies, along with the majority of those taking part, are long-standing NSPCC supporters.

Amanda Synnott, the NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager for the West Midlands, said: “We all had a tremendous afternoon playing golf and I would like to give a great thanks to everyone who took part and for making the day extra special. I would also like to give a huge thanks to the McAuliffe Group, and John McAuliffe, for sponsoring and supporting the day for the sixth year.

“All the members of the NSPCC West Midlands Business Board are professionals who volunteer their time to help organise fundraisers like the Golf Day, which do so much to raise essential funds to help vulnerable children living in the West Midlands.”

The business board is in the process of organising the Big Birthday Ball which is taking place at Birmingham’s ICC this autumn on Friday 11 October.

The event will celebrate the NSPCC’s 140th birthday and will be hosted by Marverine Cole from Good Morning Britain and PJ Ellis from BBC Radio WM and Big Brother.

Anyone interested in attending the ball should contact the NSPCC West Midlands Business Board for more information and tickets by sending an email to: nspccwmbb@gmail.com
