Worcester Bosch supports penguin pairing

A big-name brand which has backed two art trails in Worcester has thrown its support behind a third event this summer.

Worcester Bosch is to sponsor the great Waddle of Worcester, having been a big part of the city’s giraffe and elephant trails in 2018 and 2021.

Not only has the Worcester-based organisation sponsored a large sculpture but it has also funded a penguin chick, which will be designed and decorated by a local school or community group.

Eighty penguins, large and small, will go on display across the city for eight weeks this summer, before each large sculpture is auctioned to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice. The chicks will be returned to the schools and groups which decorated them.

Sue Pennington, Corporate Communications Manager at Worcester Bosch, said: “Worcester Bosch is a longstanding supporter of St Richard’s Hospice. It’s a cause which is very close to our team’s heart, with many having experienced the hospice’s work firsthand.

“We also have an interest in the arts and environment so were quick to get involved with Worcester Stands Tall back in 2018. Being part of a second and now a third trail – and enabling schools and community groups to have a mini sculpture too – is something we find really rewarding.  We can’t wait to dive in to another truly memorable arts event this summer.”

Each penguin sculpture is being funded by companies and individuals from across Worcestershire and beyond – with just one sponsorship opportunity remaining.

Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager at St Richard’s, said: “It’s wonderful to have Worcester Bosch by our sides once again for what promises to be another unforgettable event in the city this summer.

“When we came up with the concept of an art trail in 2018, Worcester Bosch were cheering us on from the very beginning. They’ve sponsored and bought elephants and giraffes at auction and helped schools and community groups take part who otherwise wouldn’t have had the funding. The team continue to be great friends of St Richard’s by volunteering in the hospice gardens, at our warehouse and in our shops – that kind of support is really special and something we are incredibly grateful for.”

The great Waddle of Worcester is supported by Presenting Partners; Crowngate, DRPG, Worcester City Council and Worcestershire Ambassadors, Community and Education Partner; Worcester BID and Media Partners; the Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
