Tiny town, animal library and tractor track: Bluebell Dairy reveals revamped indoor play barn

Bluebell Dairy, a family-run farm park based on the outskirts of Derby in Spondon, has revealed its beautifully redesigned indoor play barn as it kicks off the school summer holidays with a selection of baa-rilliant activities for little ones

Set within 320 acres of farmland in the Derbyshire countryside, just three miles from Derby town centre, artistic and fun-loving team members at the family-run business have spent hours and hours in the run up to their busiest season of the year making the indoor play space pop with colour and excite little imaginations.

Featuring a brand new tractor track, where children can hop on their own brightly coloured mini trackers and navigate around their a make-believe miniature farm, beautiful murals and a revamped tiny town complete with animal themed library, the play barn will keep 0-5s entertained for hours.

The sand pit area and climbing frame have been refreshed and extra indoor seating has been added for parents and carers to enjoy a sit down and a coffee and cake from the farm’s café while their children play.

Co-owner at Bluebell Dairy Ella Brown said: “We’re thrilled to reveal our beautiful indoor play barn and to welcome our first little visitors following its revamp and addition of new activities. Our team have worked around the clock to complete the gorgeous murals and tractor track in time for the school summer holidays and have put so much thought and effort into making the play barn a go-to attraction for families if the weather isn’t kind to us!

“For families with a mixture of children’s ages, the play barn is the perfect toddler alternative to our jumping pillow. We know there’s hours of entertainment to be had navigating the tractor track and pretending to deliver food to all the farms animals, then popping over to the miniature toy town to have a game of shopping, being a vet or playing house.

“The team is looking forward to seeing the smiles on our visitors’ faces as they enjoy the play barn this summer – it really has been a labour of love and a true team effort.”

In the last 12 months, the Brown family, which owns the farm, has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds in diversifying the farm as well as enhancing the visitor experience, setting their sights on becoming the crème de la crème of family days out in the East Midlands. They recently bought a state-of-the-art robotic milker for their micro dairy, are in the process of building a brand new, beautifully designed ice cream parlour and have launched various new events aimed at families.

Ella added: “This summer we’re expecting to welcome more than 20,000 visitors to the farm from across the East Midlands and beyond, and we wanted to welcome them with a brand new experience. The play barn is a firm favourite as part of a whole day out on the farm but if you’ve bought our £20 Summer Pass, which allows unlimited access to the farm for the whole of the summer, then you can just pop in to use the play barn if you wish!”
