Terri Rochelle Ward

Outside of work you will see me passionately singing along in fields at festivals and gigs, I have 2 dogs, a sausage and a Pom, who take up a lot of my time!

A very close friend to many, and I have a plan to see 40 new places before I turn 40, so I have 4.5 years to go.

  1. Tell us a little bit about the business you work for…

Juice Personnel is an independent business which has been operating for 21 years as of this year.

We pride ourselves on a refreshing approach to recruitment. Specialising in the Commercial, Logistics and Construction sector.

We support the Yorkshire region,  but we have the potential to help any UK based firm from entry level roles up to Director level.

The business is Co-owned by Kelly Smith and Lynn Mortimer.

  1. How did you get into the industry?

I feel like everyone who got into recruitment ended up here by accident, I am a very people-oriented person, and very driven by energy and working with others, to make projects and dreams happen.

Working in finance in compliance and auditing, really did dull my sparkle, so finding a place within Commercial recruitment really was the best calling for me, after circulating between industrial for a year, I realised it wasn’t for me. Commercial and creative roles are where I excel.

  1. What are the biggest opportunities and challenges in your industry?

The change In how the candidates are now from pre Covid, there has been in a massive shift in what is important to people, and my role is educating clients in to understanding what candidates are wanting now, to make the jobs they are recruiting for more appealing than their competitor.

4. What are the most crucial elements to your business running smoothly and being successful?

Communication, honesty, and accountability.

5. How has the past 12 months been for you?

Due to the secret recession… it was a lot tougher than 2022, but we all pulled together and made magical things happen, the staff count grew by 25% and a new division within the company opened for the Construction division.

6. What will the next 12 months look like for your business?

We will continue to thrive with our existing clients, attend networking, have stands at expos, speak highly and confidently about our brand and welcome new clients as well as support the ones we have.

7. What are the highlights of your career so far?

Within a recruitment setting, I feel working for Juice has elevated me more so than any other company I have worked for, I see things in a different light, and really push forward, this helped me to be promoted to Social Media and Commercial Recruitment Manager in a short space of time, all from hard work and sticking to a strategic plan.

8. What’s the biggest business mistake that you’ve learnt from?

Not getting terms signed…. No matter how much you feel you can “trust” someone… you can’t! always get your terms signed, otherwise you can lose out big time.

9. What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve been given?

Fail fast – it doesn’t matter if you try something, and it doesn’t go to plan, you only find growth in your mistakes… biggest lesson learnt for me, is that it is ok to make mistakes along the way.
