Alex Garcia, CEO and Owner at AMG Outdoor & Rockefellas TV

Alex Garcia is the Owner and CEO of AMG Outdoor, better known to you as the advertising billboards that you see right across the USA.

A business he learnt from his father and grandfather, where originally the adverts were painted by an artist. Mr Garcia has also painted murals and adverts on building across California and New York. Some of his murals also adorn Rockefellas bar in Corona California, which he also owns.

1. Tell us a little bit about your business…

AMG Outdoor is a Marketing & Advertising company that works across the USA including billboards, static posters, TV and football league advertising to name a few.

2. How did you get into the industry?

From originally being a billboard painter and muralist, I progressed to the modern electronic advising boards you see now, with rolling adverts.

3. What are the biggest opportunities and challenges in your industry?

To paint the biggest mural in the US, and being an independent in a corporate world that don’t like competition.

4. How would you describe your leadership style?

I would consider myself to be very relaxed with my team and I encourage entrepreneurs.

5. How do you get the most out of the people who work for you?

I encourage confidence and self belief first, and with that allows their individual creativity to flourish.

6. What are the most crucial elements to your business running smoothly and being successful?

Timing is crucial, delivery of the content and accepting responsibility.

7. How has the past 12 months been for you?

With Covid adding to restrictions, we have had to adapt our business and focus more on radio and television, because the static billboards were not being seen by the public.

8. What will the next 12 months look like for your business?

Blue skies and excitement for new projects and journeys. Since we have teamed up with TomesPR in the UK, there is more global business between the UK and the US, with increased air miles as a bonus!

9. What are the highlights of your career so far?

Creating opportunities for others and sitting back and watching the labours of my love succeed. Recently I was inspired to paint a new mural whilst on a visit to Stonehenge in the UK.

10. What’s the biggest business mistake that you’ve learnt from?

Not trusting my gut – instinct is a wonderful thing – and expecting someone else to solve the problem.

11. What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve been given?

Show up on time – stay in your lane – and pay your taxes!

Spread the good news!
