Showground team pays tribute to long-term sponsor

The management team at Shrewsbury’s West Mid Showground has paid tribute to the support of car dealership Greenhous as the company’s long-term sponsorship draws to a close this year.

Greenhous, based in Old Potts Way, was the first official sponsor of what became known as the Greenhous West Mid Showground eight years ago – signing up for five years but extending its support for a further three years at the end of that time.

The sponsorship proved invaluable in helping the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society through difficult periods of flooding and the pandemic, events which severely hampered the level of income needed to keep the showground operating.

Ian Bebbington, the society’s chief executive, said: “Having a showground sponsor was a new venture for us and the partnership with Greenhous has been extremely productive.

They agreed to sponsor the showground for five years originally but ended up supporting us for eight!

“We are extremely grateful to Greenhous for continuing to support the showground through those last three years when we experienced terrible flooding and the closure of the site during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Having their support during these tough times was extremely important and contributed to keeping the society up and running in really testing times. Now that there are brighter days ahead, Greenhous felt the time was right to step aside.

“We are very pleased with how the sponsorship has worked and are looking to continue with a new partner.

“We are already in discussion with potential sponsors but if anyone is interested in supporting the society, we would love to hear from them.

“The showground is a hive of activity once again and we are looking forward to hosting a variety of events, including Shropshire County Show in May, Shrewsbury Live in the summer and the hugely popular Bonfire Night spectacular later in the year.”

There are a range of other attractions throughout the year and people can keep up to date with what’s going on by visiting the website at www.westmidshowground.co.uk or by calling 01743 289831.
