Matt serves customers a roastie toastie
After a very successful debut last year, Roastie Toastie is returning to the City Social this winter. A traditional Sunday lunch upgraded to be enjoyed every single day, the Roastie Toastie is your nan’s roast slapped between two slices of toast.
Combining the nation’s most-loved dinner with everyone’s favourite quick dish, the Roastie Toastie became a City Social staple in 2018: a hit amongst many, the debut saw the team serve up 150 litres of Little Nan’s special gravy and over 1,000 roast potatoes!
Complete with all the traditional veg and stuffing, this mouth-watering mountain is toasted a beautiful golden brown. Optional extras include crispy roast taters, pigs in blankets and a pot of steaming, thick gravy, designed for dunking.
This ultimate comfort food is perfect for a cold winter night and is set to return to the Suffolk Street Queensway underpass from 28th November to 21st December. The team will be bringing back Christmas favourites from last year, such as ‘Turkey Lurkey’, ‘Cran-Brie’, and ‘What’s your Beef’, as well as some new favourites and special trimmings along the way.
The brainchild of a group of friends one afternoon, the Roastie Toastie brings together their love for cheese toasties and Sunday roasts. Matt Elson, the man behind the Roastie Toastie, commented:
“It’s wonderful to be bringing this back to Brum after last year’s success. I can confirm that the people of Birmingham agree with us that a roast dinner is too good to be served just on a Sunday! We will also be serving up the same festive banter and jolly service! The RT team can’t wait to welcome our returning customers as well as new faces who are yet to taste our delicious alternative take on the classic British roast dinner”.
Roastie Toasties will be served at City Social, the 3-week event that boasts chalet stalls selling local food, drink, crafts and gifts, alongside live music, Sunday film screenings and plenty of seating. Don’t worry about the cold either: equipped with outdoor heaters, your fingers will be as roastie as your toastie.
