ResourceBank funds new school in Nepal for milestone anniversary

Managing Director Richard Pearson

ResourceBank is marking its 25th anniversary by funding the creation of a brand new school in Nepal in partnership with the charity, United World Schools (UWS).

The school, in the eastern Sankhuwasabha District of Nepal, 60 miles south west of Mount Everest, will support a hard-to-reach village where the closest existing school is more than two hours walk away. The area is prone to earthquakes and aftershocks from a 2015 earthquake devastated homes and infrastructure, making support even more vital.

Nepal’s literacy rate is among the lowest in the world and only a small minority of girls attend school. The new school will provide an education for 140 students, with plans to support 190 students within three years.

Established in 1995 by Managing Director Richard Pearson, ResourceBank recruitsthousands of candidates each year for blue chip clients such as Wolseley, World Duty Free and Northgate using pioneering and innovative techniques.

The company has expanded beyond its Telford base and is now the UK’s leading provider of client branded resourcing partnerships, seamlessly managing every aspect of the candidate journey from application to offer.

Richard Pearson said: “25 years in business is a great achievement for ResourceBank but I am very fortunate to have worked with excellent clients who wanted to embrace change and a team of colleagues who work tirelessly to provide them with an excellent service”.

“To mark our anniversary, we felt we wanted to do something different and the whole team is excited about this wonderful project . Building the school is just the start and we have a number of activities planned to ensure the school thrives, including me cycling 750 km on a UK tour of our clients.”

Surya Karki, UWS Nepal Country Director, said: “Meringden is home to one of the most humble and patient groups of villagers that believe in the power of education. Parents want a good school for their children so that they do not have to live a life with uncertainties.

“I am very confident that the school will not only secure Meringden’s future but will also bring sustained prosperity through dignified and uplifting schooling for the village’s children.”
